Tips on How to Play Red Herring Game

What do extinct fish, puzzles, word games and balloons have in common? They are a way to describe Red Herring a rather fun game. The balloons are a just a distraction, they have nothing to do with the other things mentioned. So they are there to mislead and misguide you which is precisely why you should avoid them at all cost. In this relatively simple game you will be given 16 words and you need to sort them into 3 groups based on their theme and the 4th group must contain all the unrelated words to the first 3 themes.

Each column of the word grid will represent one category with the 4th one containing the “red herring” words. Drag a word box and drop it unto another to swap them in case you made a mistake. When 4 theme matching boxes line up vertically they will lock into place with the theme name revealed on the top of it.If you play the difficult mode of the game, you will have to connect all the dots yourself. Whilst in normal mode, the positions of the five boxes are put in place automatically for you. In the easy mode of the game, the theme names are already revealed for you at the start of the game. If you get stuck on a hard level you can always “scale down” and choose a less difficult mode or purchase hints.

You must keep this in mind, That there are words that could potentially fall into two or more categories and there is only one way to sort the word grid into 3 themed groups and the 4th leftover unrelated group. Helpful tip: Use the overlapping words as hints, in case you make a confirmed theme with 4 words but see a 5th one that falls into the same category then it cannot be a “red herring”, it must be the start of another theme because if it were a red herring it could be swapped with any of the words in that group without consequences thus invalidating the claim that there is only one distinct answer.
